Minerals are the most important natural resources. A compound of naturally available substance with specific chemical composition is called a mineral.
Minerals are available along with rocks in the surface of the earth. Among them, iron ore, manganese ore, bauxite ore, mica and gold are very important.
In addition to these, energy resources like coal, petroleum and atomic minerals are also important.
Mining is a major economic activity which contributes significantly to the economy of India. Indian mining industry provides job opportunities to around seven lakh individuals.
